Hi, Family.
Well, dears, I just finished watching The Green Planet International Film Awards, and I must say I was disappointed, in many areas, with the lists of chosen winners. Please, don't misunderstand me. I love and admire such actors as Song Gang Ho, Jackie Chan, Jet Li, and many others whose names were called tonight. My congratulations to all of them. The thing that bothers me is the choice of Bi Rain as International Asian Ambassador of the Year. No offense to any Rain fans out there, but what the flip is up with choosing him as an ambassador? To the best of my knowledge, he has never even aspired to be an ambassador promoting anything; unless, of course, it was himself. On the other hand, Our Yong Joon-ssi spends a good bit of his time promoting international public relations, not only among the various Asian countries, but between all the countries he has ever visited, as well as many countries to which he hasn't been, yet. In view of this fact, he is far more qualified to be International Asian Ambassador, not only of the year, or the decade, but of the entire 21st century. (Thank goodness The KTO, at least, had the sense to choose BYJ as their honorary Ambassador for the Visit Korea Years Campaign.) The only good part of all this is that our Charming Prince would no doubt be the first person to congratulate all of the winners at tonight's presentation. Mianheyo, Yong Joon-ssi. I am so very sorry that you did not win the awards for Asian actor or Ambassador, but I know a large number of Family members, including myself, voted for you to win. And, as far as we are concerned, you are, and always will be, a winner to us, because we love and respect you, no matter what happens. After all, that is what it means to be a Family, loving and supporting each other when things are disappointing, bad, or sad. Love to all Family, everywhere. Anna

Rain is currently the Korean government's PR ambassador for Korean food. He's done a few adverts about the yumminess of bibimbap, kalbi, etc. but he's not as good as BYJ.
ReplyDeleteHi Anna! I am disappointed too. I haven't seen or heard this event but thanks for sharing it to us. I strongly have faith on YJsii. Take care. Love, hyds
ReplyDeleteHi, sister HYDS.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the moral support, dear. Always appreciated. Our Yong Joon is so dear to us that I am sure there are a lot of disappointed Family out there, today. Perhaps he will be nominated again next year, if he makes another movie. That would be nice, wouldn't it? To see a new movie starring our Charming Prince. I can always dream. Take care.
Love, Anna
Hi, sister Tamar1973.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know Rain was food ambassador. Interesting. (Of course, your food blog is one of the few I read, so it's not surprising that I was unaware of that fact.)Thank you, hon, for setting me straight. Please know I wasn't trying to put down Rain. I really have no opinion of the guy, one way or the other. I barely know who he is. I just feel that our Yong Joon-ssi is the better ambassador, overall, because I do know a great deal about him and the kind of person he is. Stay well, and keep setting me straight; it's one of the ways I learn.
Love Ya, Anna
Dear Anna,
ReplyDeleteYup, all of us Baefamily are disappointed. And we also found out the voting started in Jan, we were way too late to fight.
I don't have anything against Rain, in fact I like a few of the CFs he has done, and I just love Full House..
BYJ and Rain are both Ambassadors...one for Korean Food and one for Korean Tourism. The difference is American people's knowledge about BYJ and Rain. This really affects the out come of the vote, as I think there are more American people voting than other nationalities.
We have to look at it realistically, as I'm sure YJ ssi understands very well. Rain has been busy promoting his career in the US since a few years ago...he's held concerts and he was cast in Hollywood movies such as Speed Racer and Ninja Assassin...this makes him closer to the American people, because of his appearances in the US.
BYJ ssi has been promoting his dramas and his book mainly in Japan, S Korea and other Asian countries. The American people does not know BY very well....other than US Baefamily that is.
So, I think BYJ is real wonderful, promoting his country [and himself]...in S Korea and Asia...even with out breaking into the US he is this famous, having a solid fan base from all over the world !
I wish both of them success...BYJ and Rain, both are icons of S Korea :)
Thank you sis Anna, for putting into words our thoughts and feelings regarding the awards.
Love, myoce
Dear sister myoce.
ReplyDeleteI didn't mean to sound so negative about Rain, dear. I guess I am just disappointed because our Charming Prince means so much to me, but I hardly know who Rain is. I have never seen him act, or heard him sing, although I am sure he does both very well, or he wouldn't be so popular. I just think of our Yong Joon-ssi as the greatest actor in the world, and I wish the best of everything for him, now and in the future. And, naturally, he is so sweet and wonderful, I want everyone in the world to know these things the way our family knows them. I like a few Korean and other Asian actors, both male and female, but none of them are quite like our BYJ. He is the best at everything he does, simply because he tries harder to be the best.
I am glad you like what I said, and share similar feelings to mine.I would gladly be a voice for BYJ and our Family any time and any place, and say things which express the overall feelings of the Baefamily. That is part of why I am here; to say what I think and feel, and also to say I love our Yong Joon-ssi, and our Family, no matter what. Even if some of them disagree with me, I love them just the same. Thanks for the moral support, dear, and take care.
Love, Anna
